Short on time? Short on motivation? Throw a little self-care into your style choices.

When was the last time you took a moment for yourself? When you’re constantly on the go for your kids or your business or your day job, it’s easy to be so wrapped up in life, you lose sight of your joy. People rely on you, dreams need to be nourished, bills need to be paid. Your needs just aren’t a priority right now. I get it, babe, I really do.

Here’s the thing, though. The only way you can provide for your kids or your dreams or your job is if you make sure to provide for yourself first. You can’t give something you don’t have. And the only one who can take care of you the way you need to be taken care of while you’re constantly on the go is YOU.

Tap into some warm layers so you can feel (and share) joy more freely. Layer a puffy vest over your plaid shirt. Throw a cardigan over your favorite t-shirt. Wear a big blanket scarf with just about everything. Better yet, wear two big blanket scarves with just about everything.

Putting yourself first when making style choices is an easy yet empowering form of self-care. You can make any outfit YOURS simply by choosing things you want to wear because you want to wear them. When you put yourself first in this way, it’s fulfilling and authentic and a heck of a lot more joyful to take care of all the things.

Hello & Welcome!

Hello!

Welcome to my very own creative piece of the online world, and thank you so much for being here.

Most importantly, welcome to my very first blog post ever.  Like ever ever.

Sooooo, I’ve never been much of a writer.  My high school AP US History teacher even once told me that I was a horrible writer.  Needless to say, I went home in tears that day.  Thank you all girls, Catholic high school for putting that awful tidbit in my brain.  Anyway, years later, I am so over it.  But, as an artist and math geek, I have successfully avoided the idea of writing regularly pretty much all of my adult life thus far.  Blame it on that teacher or blame it on me nourishing my strengths, writing has just never been my thing.

…and you’ve decided to take up blogging, Caitie? GREAT idea.

Except, that’s just it.  It IS a great idea.  The above story is EXACTLY why I have decided to take up blogging.  With a new creative business, a new year, and some help from Gabrielle Bernstein (my modern-day guru), I have officially deemed 2015 as my year to shine.  My year to make my dreams come true, my year to only say yes to things that light me up inside, my year to unapologetically be me and get paid for it, and my year to always, always, always choose love over fear.

Love over fear.  That’s really the core of this whole endeavor.  I have avoided writing and putting myself and my work out there this publicly for so long because I was afraid.  Afraid I would never be able to make money off this thing we call art, afraid of what people would think of me, afraid people would hate my work,  afraid I would waste money on the whole thing, afraid I didn’t know enough, afraid I wasn’t good enough...you get the idea.

So here I am, and here is my art, and here is my life.

Who I am: chai tea drinker, artist, designer, yogi, flow goer, warm, unconditional lover.

Where I find my daily inspiration: in the warm, unconditional love of a good cup of chai tea.

For those of you who know me well, you know that I have been drinking chai tea with soy milk for as long as we all can remember.  For those of you who don’t know me that well, well now you know too.  hehehe.

I discovered chai tea when I was a teenager on the hunt for something to soothe my chronic stomach problems.  I very quickly realized that its soothing powers extended way beyond my belly to my heart and soul, and now I drink it every day.  I could be having the worst day in the world, and the idea of going home to a warm cup of chai tea is literally what gets me through the day.  It’s how I unwind.  It’s like this warm, non-judgmental hug in a mug.  It calms me down, warms me up and opens my heart to new possibilities and to the love in the world, even when I have a really hard time finding or seeing that love.  It is the epitome of my daily inspiration.

So here I am, and here is my art, and here is my life – my inspiration.  This blog will be a place for me to share with you the things that inspire me daily, my process, the ups and downs of starting and running a business on your own, how I stay sane through it all, my horrible writing…hehehe.

I might write a lot, or I might just write captions for a lot of cool photos.  Who freakin’ knows.  But at least I am here, sharing my gifts with the world, and writing at all.  This year is my year to shine.

If you take anything at all from this very first blog post ever, take this:  Love love love love, and don’t avoid doing things simply because you’re afraid.  This is your year to shine too.

Love, Light & Warm Cups of Chai Tea,
